Global Medical Dental Brigades at the University of Virginia is a completely student run organization that sends students on medical service trips to locations like Panama, Honduras, Ghana, and Nicaragua. Trips range from 1-1.5 weeks where we focus on organizing free medical and dental clinics, pharmacies, and public health projects. UVA GMDB is a branch of Global Brigades, an international non-profit with the mission to increase rural communities' access to healthcare, clean water, business opportunities, banks, and more in developing nations.
Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs.
